Email: russellt@barrons-bds.com RUSSELL TILLBROOK Director Business Bio: Russell is our statutory and compliance partner – taking overall responsibility for the delivery of our core statutory accounting services. Russell has over 25 years of experience in public practice dealing with client’s statutory accounting and taxation needs. Primarily in the owner managed SME market dealing with clients from start up to multimillion turnover groups. Russell is able to draw upon a wide range of business experience built up through
  • 25 years in public practice;
  • wealth of Audit experience on various business sectors;
  • expertise in advising and supporting new start up business;
  • experience of various specialist audit and reporting areas such as BSOG, SRA work and ATOL;
  • 10 years as primary Audit RI at the practice;
  • acting as a Governor in a local primary school supporting the financial management and systems;
  • working closely with owner managers supporting all aspects of legal and statutory reporting requirements across a range of business types;
  • 20 years of knowledge of the specific client base of the practice.
Russell is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Certified Accountants. Personal Bio: Russell is a keen sportsman particularly enjoying Football, Cricket and Golf. Unfortunately his playing days are now in the past but after 30 years of playing he now takes a keen interest in supporting Grass Roots Football, volunteering to assist Leigh Ramblers Girls and Ladies Football Club in his spare time. Russell also volunteers as a School Governor at a local Primary School. Aside from Sport Russell has a keen interest in all things historical which he will happily talk incessantly to the team at Barrons about much to their enjoyment or so he believes! Russell is married with three daughters and enjoys nothing more than spending time with the family and supporting his Girls in their various and varied hobbies! As I am sure many will associate with he operates a very efficient Dad’s Taxi service 24/7

Email: richardm@barrons-bds.com Richard Mumford - Richard, who is ACCA qualified, has worked in practice since 1985. Initially he worked his way up to the position of signing off company audits. However, as the profession has moved towards the advisory and support sector, Richard has directed his efforts to assisting with the growth of this division within the Practice. Richard says, “Accountants are equipped with the skills to offer far more than a retrospective review of historic results. It is more challenging but far more rewarding to be working alongside clients in real time providing support and advice for current and future decision making”. Away from work Richard enjoys playing golf and excursions in his VW campervan, “Jasper”.

Outside of work Lisa is kept busy with her family and horses, obviously she has no favourites! In her spare time she enjoys show jumping and going for the odd run.

She is a Fellow of the Federation of Tax Advisors which is part of the Institute of Financial Accountants. In her spare time she enjoys working in her garden and making it as colourful as she can, and getting stuck into a good book. She also has a keen interest in Aromatherapy and often makes up “witches brews” to help family and friends with aches and pains.

Email: lisae@barrons-bds.com Lisa Edwards - Lisa joined Barrons in 2016 and has a BSc Hons degree in Biomedical Science, however after having children she decided she wanted a career change and began studying towards the AAT qualification. Life outside of work revolves around her husband Steve, their two teenage sons and their new family addition Chester the dog (her favourite!) She likes to keep fit by running, enabling a guilt-free glass of wine or two at the weekend while socialising with family and friends going out for dinner, playing games or dancing the night away.

Email: tinap@barrons-bds.com Tina Pontin - Tina joined Barrons in 2013 with several years experience in running a payroll bureau as well as some experience in book-keeping.  In 2017 she left full-time employment with Barrons but supported the payroll team and managed the Pension schemes remotely.  She returned to full-time employment in November 2020 to help manage the Payroll Department alongside Emily, albeit working from home still. She has an extensive family (7 children, 1 foster child and 6 grandchildren) she enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time away in her Hymer S700 Motorhome called Peanut.  She has travelled all over Europe whilst still working for Barrons remotely wherever she may be.

Having started his professional training with Barrons in 2006, George is an experienced accountant and qualified with the ACCA. He is passionate about working with new start-up businesses, supporting them from the start of their journey to give them the best possible chance of achieving their goals. In his spare time, George enjoys spending his free time with his wife and their young son and daughter. Email: garethl@barrons-bds.com Gareth Lanaway - Gareth joined Barrons in 2016 and works in the Statutory Accounts Team as an Accounts Senior. He also leads the Bus Service Operators Grant department and has built some fantastic working relationships with clients within the Bus and Coach sectors by assisting them to compile and review their annual claim submissions. Gareth is AAT level 3 qualified and is currently working towards finalising level 4 with ambitions of moving on to ACCA following this. In his spare time he enjoys maximising family time and is inspired daily by his wife and two children. Gareth is also a keen darts player and plays for a local team. Other hobbies include playing a range of sports including football, squash, badminton and pool.

Mich oversees the production of management reports across a spectrum of industries and clients. This comprises setting up bookkeeping systems, compiling monthly management accounts and producing specialist management information reports, including business cash flow forecasts and budgets His spare time revolves mostly around rugby which he now coaches after hanging his boots up as a player in 2007. He has coached for the England RFU as a coach developer and currently coaches at a local rugby clubs and Essex county youth level. When not at rugby his time is spent rehearsing and performing within a tribute band. He also (to the annoyance of his wife) relaxes by playing guitar and drums.

He is particularly keen on his home town clubs in football & cricket, namely Brighton & Hove Albion (now firmly established in the EPL!!) & Sussex cricket club. He also enjoys his exotic holidays twice a year and spending time at his newly acquired static caravan, affectionately known as the “tin hut”.

Emily lives in Hockley, and outside of work enjoys watching her football team West Ham Utd, baking, socialising with friends and family- and being a taxi driver to her daughter and husband!
